Games POWs Played

In this blown up section of the Kern map, you can just make out the label in the middle-Playing Baste.  This refers to the game of base ball.  If you examine the enlarged image, you may just be able to make out the stick figures playing the game.  Baseball was a favorite game for the prisoners to play as soon as the weather allowed for it.  There are many prisoner references to their playing baseball.  One thing we have never found was either a baseball or bat.  It may have been difficult for these items to have made it into the archaeological record.

Prisoners played many other types of games to pass the time.  We find, archaeologically, some evidence of these games.  For instance, we have found various types of marbles within the blocks.
