When a student finds something, it's a very exciting moment.  Often one of college students or Dr. Bush comes over to help.  In the picture below, Dr. Bush helps Katie D. to carefully reveal the entire pipe.  Notice the brush Katie is using to avoid damaging the artifact.  The red string is part of a grid that helps the team to note exactly where each artifact is found.
