Johnson's Island Scrapbook

April 5, 2008

Civil War Preservation Trust

Park Day

We had 57 participate in the Civil War Preservation Trust Park Day at the Johnson's Island Civil War Prison site.  It was a great success.  We were able to get our wooden fence completed around Fort Johnson and also get much of the dead wood from around the main prison area picked up.  Although the weather earlier that week was wet, and the ground was wet this day, we did manage to get the bond fires going and get all the dead wood taken care of.  We had a wonderful lunch provided by Rob Martin, with the help of Marcia George.   Again, thanks to all that came and helped to make the Johnson's Island site a much better representation of this National Historic Landmark.
